Passover Foods Shipped by JDC The Joint Distribution Commit- tee has shipped 616,500 pounds of matzoth and other Passover sup- plies to 10 countries in Europe to enable needy Jews to observe the holidays appropriately, it was an- nounced by Louis Braid°, JDC chairman. Last year JDC shipped close to 720,000 pounds of Passover sup - plies to Europe. In 1964 the total was over 370,000 pounds. Funds for Passover relief and other JDC welfare and rehabilita- tion programs are provided main- ly by the campaigns of the United Jewish Appeal. Supplies shipped this year in- clude 481,500 pounds to Romania and other East European coun- tries, 36,000 pounds to France and 34,410 pounds to Yugoslavia. Oth- er countries to which Passover sup- plies were shipped are Albania, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain. In addition to the supplies sent to aid Jewish communities in Eu- rope, JDC has made special grants to enable needy Jews in Algeria, Iran, Morocco and Tunisia to pur- chase matzoth and other Passover supplies locally. In Poland matzoth is baked by the religious community with equipment supplied by JDC. Here also needy Jews are given funds to purchase matzoth and other sup- plies produced locally. The visit will be a homecoming for Mrs. Nemon, who resides at 24808 Pierce, Southfield, with her husband and four children. Mrs. Nemon She is a charter member of the Lt. Roy F. Green Auxiliary and has long been active in her auxiliary and in the Michi- gan department, of which she is a past president.
