by the Schechter Residence Hall.

Campaign chairman for Michigan
Branch. Mrs. Isadore Leeman is

NW Child Rescue
Gives Check to School
Northwest Child Rescue Women
presented a check for $1,500 to
the Detroit Association for Re-
tarded Children to be used for
renovating and furnishing the
homemaking classroom of the
DARC Hancock Center School.
Mrs. Leo Ordin, president of the
organization, presented the check.
The president of the DARC,
Joseph H. Chance, emphasized the
need for continued support by all
groups as demonstrated by the
Northwest Child Rescue Women
so that "the mentally retarded will
have the specialized resources and
facilities now being provided at
the Hancock Center to enable them
to be part of our everyday com-
munity living."

NEW YORK (JTA) — Contri-
butions totaling $1,500,000 were
announced Monday at a rally of
some 4,000 Jewish women mark-
ing the opening of the 1966 cam-
paign of the women's division of
the United Jewish Appeal of
Greater New York. The initial
figure — $100,000 more than last
year — formally launched the
women's division's efforts toward
the UJA's nationwide goal of
$116,685,000 for this year.

The Women's Auxiliary of Jew-
ish National Fund will hold its
Honor Awards meeting 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday at Beth Aaron Synago-
gue.
Special awards for outstanding
service will be made by Mrs. Ab-
raham Scheuer, citywide chairman
of blue boxes; and life member-
ship pins by Mrs. Irving Arlin,
membership chairman. Chai charms
will be given by Mrs. William
Levin, fund raising co-chairman,
to all donor contributors who in-
creased their pledges $18 or more.
Plaques to Pillars of Courage
contributors of $300 or more will
be presented by Mrs. Max Stoll-
man, chairman of the day. A spe-
cial presentation will be made by
Judge Burton Shifman.
