Carolyn W. Levin Ruth Blumrosen, 67

Mrs. Carolyn W. Levin, former
teacher at City and Country
Nursery School in Bloomfield
Hills, died Monday at age 63.
Mrs. Levin, 7420 Franklin,
Bloomfield Township, retired five
years ago, taking over volunteer
programs for cultural aid to under-
privileged children at Mark Twain
School, Pontiac.
A Vassar College graduate, she
was a native of Cincinnati and
lived in Bloomfield Township 35
years.
Mrs. Levin is survived by her
husband, Abraham J.; three sons,
Judson, Jerry and Frank; a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Hale Edelstein; a sister,
Mrs. Robert P. Goodman; and nine
grandchildren. Mrs. Levin had an-
other son, Dr. Robert, who is de-
ceased.

Toronto Star Writer

Joe Perlove, a sportswriter for
the Toronto Daily Star, died Mon-
day in Toronto.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Nor-
man Green; a son Fred; three
brothers and four sisters, two of
whom, Mrs. Louis (Bertha) Suhd
and Mrs. Richard (Kate) Gorback,
are Detroiters; and three grand-
children.

Jerome Sorcher Dies

Mrs. Ruth Blumrosen, teacher
and dietitian in the Lincoln Park
School System for many years, died
last Saturday at age 67.
Mrs. Blumrosen, 1410 Keppen,
Lincoln Park, was a founder of
the Lincoln Park Woman's Club
and the city's literary club and
appeared frequently as a book
reviewer at churches, synagogues,
clubs and other groups. She was
a director of the Detroit Rose
Society for 38 years and won many
prizes for floral arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Joseph
J.; a brother, Ellis M. Thal; and
two sisters, Mrs. Rena T. Kanter
and Mrs. J. J. Marks.

Hashomer Founder,
Zvi Nissanov, Dies

TEL AVIV - Zvi Nissanov, one
of the founders of the Hashomer
Watchmen's Organization, which
protected Jewish settlers in Pales-
tine in the early years of this cen-
tury, died in Tiberias Wednesday
at age 85.
Born in Russia, Nissanov emi-
grated to Palestine in 1909 and
served as a security guard in
many of the Galilee settlements
which played historic roles in the
early years of Jewish settlement.
His wide circle of contacts with
many of the Arab land-owning
class proved invaluable in the
purchase of large tracts of land
by the Jewish National Fund dur-
ing the period of the British Man-
date.

NEW YORK - Jerome Sorcher,
Chief Accountant of the American
Jewish Committee since 1961, died
Tuesday night at Montefiore Hos-
pital, after a. long illness. He was
43.

NEW YORK - Stamp collector
Albert Philip Cohen died Feb. 22
at the age of 55. Cohen, secre-
tary of Aero Philatelists, Inc., an
organization of collectors who spe-
cialize in air mail issues, was well
known as a collector and won
many awards.
A businessman, he also was a
philanthropist interested in the
welfare of needy youngsters.
