`The Great Prize' Panned
by Critics in Germany

TEL AVIV (ZINS)-The Berlin
correspondent A. Deutschkorn of
"Maariv" published a sharp criti-
cism against Israeli actors, writers
and artists who are streaming into
Germany.
The West Germans, writes the
correspondent, are afraid to criti-
cize an Israeli artist lest they, the
critics, be suspected of being Nazis.
However, an exception was made in
the case of a performance of Sha-
lom Aleichem's "The Great Prize."
For the first time, all German
critics dared to pan the perform-
ance.
"Perhaps this will be a lesson for
other Israelis," writes the corres-
pondent, "who come to entertain
the German masses with their ob-
sequious performances."
