Classes to Start 2nd Semester at Temple Israel SYNAGOGUE SERVICES The second semester of Temple Israel's classes in adult Jewish religious and cultural education will open 8 p.m. Monday with Dr. Leon Fram giving a comparative religion course in "Judaism and Christianity." It will feature inter- pretive readings both from the New Testament and the Talmud, with special references to the Vatican declaration on the Jews. Rabbi M. Robert Syme will con- tinue his course on "The Bible as Reflected in the Tragedies of Shakespeare;" Robert Lask will present a course on the survey of Jewish history; and Mrs. Harold Bobroff will give a course in the - Hebrew language, all at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m. there will be a series of lectures on "The Varieties of Jewish Culture," beginning with a - lecture by Dr. Bernard Goldman of Wayne State University, on "The Art and Symbols of Ancient Israel," and continuing with lec- tures on "Jewish Music," by Can- tor Harold Orbach; "Yiddish Lit- erature," by Moishe Haar; "The Image of the Jew in Contemporary _Drama," Mrs. Harold Orbach; and "The Image of the Jew in Cur- rent Fiction, both as Subject and Author," by Mrs. Lawrence Wem- ber, Temple Israel's librarian.
