The award will be given each year to a writer whose published works "by their authentic interpre- tations of Jewish life and values make a positive contribution to contemporary literature." Last Chapter Marks a First on Shalom The first Jewish book known to be completed on a Jewish ship is autographed by its author Rabbi Bernard S. Raskas, who com- piled and edited "Beacons of Light" and completed it at sea on the Zim liner, SS Shalom. An anthology of sermons and addresses by well-known rabbinical and lay leaders in American Jewry, "Beacons of Light" is being published by Bloch, whose vice president, Solo- mon Kerstein, is at the author's right. Greenfield-8 Mile Rd. 3rd Blood Bank Rally Scheduled by Bnai Brith The Metropolitan Detroit Bnai Brith Men's and Women's Coun- cils announce their third blood bank rally of the 1965-66 year to be held 5-11 p.m. both Monday at Pepper School, Oak Park, and Tuesday at Beth Aaron Synagogue. Over 500 pints of blood were donated by Bnai Brith members during the first two rallies. There are five held each year.
