THE SAINTS AND SINNERS of
coastal fame will have its Detroit
inauguration soon launched by
native localite Turk Prujanski .. .
Coming in town for this gala shin-
dig to open the great Saints and
Sinners are names that would indi-
vidually- pack a house . . . Billy
Daniels, George Raft, Harry Rich-
man, Maxie Rosenbloom, Billy
Gray and others . . . Also here will
be Jerry Webber and Sam Mannis,
founders of the Saints and Sinners
in Los Angeles over 16 years ago
• . The date is set for Jan. 31, and
here's how membership works .. .
All monies received are given
toward helping retarded children
. . . It costs $25 a year to join
Saints and Sinners . . . The hilari-
ous weekly meetings, for men only,
usually single out all new mem-
bers as the "victims." . . . Among
them might be a judge, president
of a steel mill or owner of an auto-
motive plant . . . Makes no differ-
ence who they are or what they
are . . . All get the same "roast-
ing." . . . Barbs loaded with as-
persions are thrown at them per-
haps about their personal or busi-
ness life or character . . . They
don't know it's all a joke—that the
huge audience is in on the entire
bit, prepared to be limp from
laughter at the goings-on portrayed
in mock seriousness against the
guests of honor ... This is the fam-
ous Saints and Sinners that'll have
its Detroit inauguration, Jan. 31,
with Turk as master . . . The De-
troiters will build a hospital for re-
tarded children, with the finest
staff of doctors and nurses avail-
able . . . Turk leaves for the coast
soon to set up the entourage here
. .. They'll all arrive in Detroit on
Jan. 28 to visit with Turk and make
necessary preparations for 'the be-
ginning of Detroit's chapter of
Saints and Sinners .. . For more
info contact our office, UN 4-6868.

YES, KEES ROOZEN (pro-
nounced "Case Rosen"), new owner
of Mario's of Windsor Restaurant
and Tavern across the river, is the
same gent who made a host of
friends while managing director
of the Elmwood Casino.

A VERY IMPORTANT facet at
the Uncle John Pancake houses is
the emphasis on service . . . It
ranks in importance with the food
. . . and both are very good . . .
Your coffee is poured almost be-
fore you've finished sitting down
• and those Uncle John waitresses
must have super senses to tell
them when a cup needs refilling.
TONY CASAS is sole bossman
now at the Villa Venice Italian
eatery on Woodward . . . Between
Tony and chef Arminio, the authen-
tic Italian dishes at Villa Venice
are expected to be even better
than before ... Glad to hear that
Tony is still there . . . He's a fine
gentleman, with the culinary in-
terests of his patrons always at
heart.
