"TURK" PRUJANSKY h a s
taken over as _manager at Max's
Porterhouse, formerly Club Ala-
mo, on Livernois, and has the
place jumping again . . . "Turk"
was one-time night life mayor of
Detroit and after New York, Hol-
lywood, etc., is back in the old
home town to live again . . . He
has directed three long-playing al-
bums, "The Legend of Jimmy Du-
rante", "A Legend Named Al Jol-
son", and "George Jessel Presents
This Is My Show Business" . . .
The first two are narrated by Wal-
ter Winchell and the third by
Jessel . . . At present, "Turk" is
personal manager of Al Jolson Jr.
. . . and will soon be master of the
great Saints and Sinners organiza-
tion coming to Detroit . . . More
about this fabulous group later.
FOR A FINE desert dry Mar-

again at the reopened Charade on
Livernois . . . which is good news
since Dorothy made a host of
friends while at Detroit's newest
nitery ... It was closed for a short
while, but opened in full . . . and
with Dorothy back at the helm
there should be swinging days
ahead for this very beautiful and
popular nite spot.

IN A SMALL Montana town,
some hunters were having a couple
of beers in a local bar after a suc-
cessful antelope-hunting trip . . .
All the hunters were dressed in
red as required by law . . . A lady
tourist from the East stopped in to
make a phone call . . . After com-
pleting the call, she asked why all
the men were dressed in red .. .
"That's a state law, ma'm," the
bartender replied . . . "Well, I
think that's a splendid law, the
woman exclaimed. "Drunks every-
where should be made to red.
