Historical Massada Site Opened to Tourists Did Ghana Give B-G Gift
JERUSALEM — The Israel gov- destruction of the Temple in Jeru- to Hitler's Woman Pilot?

ernment announces that the his-
torical site of Massada will be
opened to the public in December.
More than two years of explor-
atory digging and restoration has
been going on. Prof. Yigael Yadin
led an archeological expedition
'------- which confirmed the historical
moment of Massada of 1,900 years
ago.
Massada, which was virtually an
impregnable fortress built by
King Herod, was the last baston
of resistance for 960 Jewish men,
women and children, after the

salem. This small group held off
the Roman armies from 66 to 73
C.E. before realizing it could hold
out no longer and committed mass
suicide.
With the opening of this famous
site to the public, Israel adds more
attractions to the tourist trade.
With the greater influx of tour-
ists into the country new facilities
are continually made available. A
new motel at Nahariya—the Palm
Beach Bungalow motel located
near the Mediterranean—offers 30
bungalows, a restaurant and care.

Israel Seeks to Restrict
Issuance of Passports
to New Immigrants

OCEANFRONT at LINCOLN 110.

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Amend-
ments to Israel's passort law were
presented to Parliament under
which new immigrants would be
able to obtain an Israeli passport
only after a year's residence and
authorizing the government to
withdraw passports of certain
categories of Israelis living per-
manently abroad.
The amendments were prepared
to prevent misuse of passports by
immigrants who come to Israel only
for a stay long enough to enable
them to attain citizenship and who
then seek passports to re-emigrate.
However, some observers expressed
concern that the amendment on Is-
raelis living abroad would give the
government undue authority
against citizens engaging in ac-
tivities overseas which the govern-
ment might dislike.

dispatch received here, Hitler's
former personal woman pilot,
Anna Reich, has been presented
by the Ghana government with the
airplane which David Ben-Gurion
some years ago presented as a
gift to the president of Ghana.
During his tenure as prime min-
ister, B e n - Gurion shipped Dr.
Nkhruma this plane with an in-
scription which to this very day
remained intact. The foreign min-
istry of Israel has launched an in-
