Stoun has a record release out now
on Jubilee Label that contains two
of her "Spoonerism" favorites,
"Rindercella" and "Little Hood
Reding Ride."
OVERHEARD . . • Stout gentle-
man after holiday dinner, "Well,
back to the salt-minus." . . . and
husband, as wife brings burnt
offering to the table, "What in
cremation is it?"
CHECK OUR GUIDE for
places to go New Year's Eve
Some ask you to call for reserva-
tions and others are having open
house . . . In either event, they
are recommended ... . An im-
portant facet of these places is
that they offer an evening very
well spent for the occasion .. .
In other words, 'you'll know what
you're getting.
IT IS FASHIONABLE today to
drink champagne dry . . This is
labeled Brut . . . Extra dry means,
curiously, not too dry in flavor .. .
and Sec means sweet.
THERE'S A BISTRO in Chicago
which has a shrunken head dis-
played under the bar . . . Under-
neath the head is this sign, "My,
that was a dry martini."
DELICATESSENS HAVE A way
of being places to go in the com-
munity for that sandwich and cup
of coffee before home . . . Places
like Marty's, Danny's, Katz's, Bill's,
Embers, Alban's Bottle 'n Basket
and Darbys are overly good be-
cause they render all that is ex-
pected and more . .. Visitors, es-
pecially, to Detroit need look no
further than the above mentioned
for the very tops in delly offerings.
HARRY LEVENSON at Ander-
son's Gardens has this story about
the fellow boarding a bus down-
town noticing that a big clock on a
building said 9:30 . . . A block •
or two farther on hesaw another
clock . . . This one said 9:15 . . .
"Goodness!" he cried, "I took the
bus going in the opposite direc-
tion."
TAKE A TIP . . . When out at
a nitery you've never been to be-
fore, check your bill . . . Strangers
are easy victims to "padding" .. .
Also, if sitting at a bar, never •
let your change stay there for the
bartender to take out the next
drink • . . You'll find some of it
gone!
