Dr. Max Kapustin,, speaking at the opening session of the Mid- western convention of the Young Israel movement, hailed the Yav- neh emphasis on "learning in depth," adding that "unfortunate- ly, in most cases, Hillel has reduc- ed its program to the least common denominator, thus leaving a vacuum for the student with an Orthodox background."
