Aaron Weisbrot, Zionist Revisionist
Organizer in Detroit, Dies at 76

Aaron Weisbrot, 18610 Stoe-
pel, a pioneer Zionist Revisionist,
died last Friday evening, at the
age of 76.
Funeral services were held Sun-
day morning at Hebrew Memorial
Chapel.
Surviving him are his wife,
Rose; daughters, Mrs. Albert (Es-
ther) Mitchell, Mrs. Erie (Bertha)
Gottschalk and Mrs. Jerome B.
(Shirley) Friedman; five grand-
children and two brothers.
A close friend of the late Vlad-
imir Jabotinsky, founder of the
Zionist Revisionist m o v em e n t,
Weisbrot was the organizer and
first president of the Detroit chap-
ter of the organization which later
became the New Zionist Organiza-
tion.
He was active in congregational
and other community movements
and his efforts for Zionism were
noted nationally on several oc-
casions. He was a Hebraist and
in his youth taught Hebrew.
Born in Warsaw, Poland, Mr.
Weisbrot came to the United States

more than 50 years ago. He was
prominent in the furniture busi-
ness from which he retired several
years ago.
"On arriving in the United
States, said a Zionist Revisionist
friend, M. Manuel Merzon, he
propagated the ideals of Jewish
statehood, as preached by Jabo-
tinsky. . . He could take up an
evening's time to attempt to con-
vince two persons of the inevita-
bility and he ran the risk of
losing half of his audience who
went away for a cup of coffee.
"He could also address large
mass meetings with a sincerity and
conviction that was all but catching.
Mr. Weisbrot gave generously
toward the movement of his fi-
nancial resources, and few people
knew the actual extent of his com-
mitments on that score. He was
ready and anxious to advertise his
principles and convictions but, com-
mendably, he was modest in publi-
cizing his financial assistance."
