Miller and Mrs. Arthur J. Hass will have important roles at the 25th biennial assembly of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods to be held in the Mark Hopkins Hotel, San Francisco, this weekend through Wednesday. Mrs. Miller, a member of the national federation's board of di- rectors, is also president of NFTS District 11, the Michigan Federa- tion of Temple Sisterhoods, which includes the sisterhoods of Reform Jewish congregations in Michigan and Windsor. She is vice chairman of the NFTS committee on the World Union for Progressive Judiasm. Mrs. Hass. who is a former presi- dent of the Michigan Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, will serve at the convention as chairman of a roundtable for presidents of large sisterhoods, those having a mem- bership of more than 700. Parents Club to Hold Brunch in Ann Arbor Women of the Detroit Chapter of Hadassah are in the - midst of vigorous preparation for the an- nual Continental Ball 8:30 p.m., Dec. 4 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek. The ball is Hadassah's way of saying thank you to honor roll contributors for their dedication to Hadassah's many projects. Mrs. Davis Benson, honor roll vice-president, states this year's theme, "Double Your Pleasure — Double Your Fun," will be carried out in two decorated ballrooms, featuring two orchestras and con- tinuous suppers served in each room. Proceeds from the shop are used to help support ORT's voca- tional training schools all over the world. Members and friends of ORT provide the shop with merchandise and it is staffed by volunteers. It has drawn collectors and antique shop owners from far off, and even a curator from the Detroit In- stitute of Arts. The project is operated under the direction of a steering commit- tee composed of Mrs. David Feerer, chairman; Mrs. Sidney Weisman, coordinator; Julia Klein, treasurer; Mrs. Leo Franklin, chairman of volunteers; and Mesdames William Fleischman, Lawrence Levi, Ben Levinson, Mary Louise Rosenthal, N. H. Schlafer, and David Wilkus. President of the Northeast Chapter is Mrs. Harold Kukes. Another first for Northeast Chapter was the election of former three-term president Mrs. Irvin Kurtz as vice president of the national executive board of Women's American ORT. Mrs. Kurtz, of Strathcona Dr., was one of four such vice presi- dents selected outside the Eastern Seaboard at the recent national convention in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Kurtz was president for three terms of the Michigan Region of ORT and recently has been work- ing on the national committee on expansion.
