Miami's Martinique
to Cater to Observant
The Martinique Hotel in Miami
Beach is under new management
and will be operated as the area's
first luxury kosher resort, it was
reported this week. Bernard and
Hilda Wieder. kosher-hotel opera-
tors in both New York and Flor-
ida, are associated with Rabbi Dr.
Mayer I. Herman in the new
operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Wieder, who are
also owner-operators of Wieder's
Adler Hotel in Sharon Springs,
N. Y., have joined with Rabbi
Herman to provide a hotel atmos-
phere designed for persons who
desire the ultimate in luxury vaca-
tion living, yet are determined to
observe Jewish traditions.
The Martinique Hotel has re-
cently been completely redecorated
from top to bottom. All public
rooms and private guest suites
were fully recarpeted and refur-
bished by a leading interior de-
signer. In addition, the new own-
ers are currently overseeing the
installation of a specially designed
private synagogue on the premises
for the exclusive use of Martin-
ique guests.

The Air Conditioned
LONDON (JTA) — A monument
to 1,000 Jews from the Yugoslavian
town of Oshek, who were deported
to death camps by the Nazi regime,
was erected in that town, accord-
ing to a dispatch received here
from Belgrade. The monument is
in the form of a marble sculpture
done by a well-known Jewish artist, I.
