Brevities Throughout the world the superb talents of YEHUDI MENUHIN, who will appear at Detroit's Ma- sonic Auditorium on Oct. 16, have placed him in the highest echelon both as a violinist and as one of the truly great musicians of his time. It is generally known that Menuhin has long shown enthusi- asm for and given encouragement to those youthful artists whose po- tentials he can immediately verify by virtue of his own vast exper- ience, therefore the joint appear- ance of Fou Ts'ong, accomplished young pianist and his son-in-law, again demonstrates his confidence in youth. Fou was awarded the coveted first prize in the fiercely competitive Warsaw International Contest. Menuhin began playing the violin at the age of 5, and made his first appearance at the age of 8 as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony under the direction of Alfred Hertz. * * * World-renowned for their bril- liant feats in the air, for the fan- tastic swiftness of their turns and leaps, members of the ROYAL DANISH BALLET, among the old- est of the "court" ballets, will be at Detroit's Masonic Auditorium for two performances Oct. 22 and 23. Predating even the Imperial Russian Ballet, which acknowledges many Danish influences, the Royal Danish Ballet had its beginning in 1577 when King Frederik II ordered the "Morian Dance of Fools" by the poet Morten Borup to be performed in the castle court- yard in honor of the christening of his son, afterward Christian IV. * * * The POZNAN CHOIR of Poland, founded over 500 years ago, will visit Detroit Oct. 31, when it ap- pears in a single concert at Masonic Auditorium. 4, RECEIVING HOSPITAL SERV- ICE LEAGUE will hold its fall meeting 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the David Whitney House, Wayne Coun- ty Medical Association. French Youths' Zionist Influence Related by Paris Federation Veep Yerachmiel Rozenblum, of Paris, vice-president of the Z i o n i s t Federation of France, who was on a brief visit in Detroit, Monday conferred with Zionist leaders under the chairmanship of Carmi M. Slomovitz, president of the Zionist Organization of Detroit, and reported on the progress of efforts to create a cultural atmos- phere for French Jewish youth. Rozenblum said that the 3,000 Parisian Zionists, whose movement, like all Jewish movements, has suf- fered from assimilationism in their country, are now looking to the youth for inspiration. Formerly a journalist, n o w operating a travel bureau, Rozen- blum said that for 15 years many hundreds of Jewish youth have been going to camps in Israel and are bringing back with them a new spirit. "In the first years, close to 400 youth went to Israel camps year- ly," he said. "Now, at least 150 youths go yearly to Israel from Paris. Of the numbers that went there, 6'00 have settled in Israel. There was a time when we brought Zionism from the elders to the youth. Now, the youth are bring- ing a new spirit to their elders." "This," he added, is the best injection of a new spirit we are Nazi Admits He Helped Kill Jews in Sobibor HAGEN, W. Germany (JTA) — Former SS Sgt.
