Cantor Shulsinger Dies

Richard S. Lurie, president of
Standard Car Leasing Co. and
formerly of Dick Lurie Ford Agency
in Oak Park, died in the Cleveland
Clinic Sept. 16. He was 36.
Mr. Lurie, 1079 Forest Lane,
Brimingham, headed the leasing
company for six months after giv-
ing up his dealership. A native
of Detroit, he was a member of
Temples Emanu-El and Beth El,
isgah Lodge of Bnai Brith and
Ythe board of directors of the Bir-
mingham Little League.
A graduate of Western Michi-
gan College in 1951, Mr. Lurie
was a Navy veteran of the
Korean War.
His late father, Nathan Lurie,
had been vice chairman and co-
founder of Wrigley's supermarket
chain and chairman of the board
of Super-Sol markets in Israel.
Survivors are Richard Lurie's
wife, Lois; four sons, David, Roger,
Robert and Nathan; his mother,
Mrs. Ireta Lurie; and a sister, Mrs.
Melvin Yoffee.
Nathan Baron Dead
Nathan Baron, insurance agent
for New York Life 48 years, died
Sunday at age 79. Mr. Baron, 10643
Santa Maria, lived in Detroit 60
years. He was born in Poland.
A member of Temple Israel and
its men's club, he also belonged
to the Zionist Organization of De-
troit and Bnai Brith.
Mr. Baron leaves his wife, Paul-
ine; a son, Adolph; a sister, Mrs.
Anna Sonick of Winnipeg; and two
grandchildren.
Cantor Hyman Shulsinger, who
officiated in Detroit, at Beth Tefilo
Emanuel Synagogue, for eight
years, died in Buffalo, N. Y., Sept.
15.
He is survived by his wife, Clara;
a daughter, Pearl Dickman, and
two grandchildren.
Cantor Shulsinger was active in
Detroit's cantorial circles and
participated in many community
affairs. He moved to Buffalo about
10 years ago.
Mrs. Lou Winokur Dies
Mrs. Lou Winokur, a Detroit area
resident for the last 10 years, died
Sept. 17 at age 34. The wife of
Seymour Winokur, a building sup-
plies company owner, Mrs. Winokur
was buried in Knoxville, Tenn.,
where she was born.
SurViving besides her husband,
are a son, Steven; a daughter,
Kimberly; two stepsons, Jeffrey and
Gregory; her mother, Mrs. Estella
Fadis; a brother and six sisters.
The family lived at 21707 Stratford
Ct., Oak Park.
Knesset Leader Dead
TEL AVIV (JTA) — Israel Guri,
a Mapai member of the Knesset,
and chairman of that body's finance
committee, died here Sept. 18. He
was 76. Mr. Guri was born in Russia
and settled in Israel in 1919.
Among the posts he held were
Tel Aviv city councillor, member
of the education committee of the
Histadrut, and delegate to several
World Zionist congresses.
