EATING GREEK FOOD at the
Laikon Cafe on Monroe recently,
brought a very pleasant surprise
. . . It was the first time we had
ever visited this spot . . . and glad
we did . . . The fine delicacies
were enjoyed by all in our party
. . . and since the concentration
is strictly on food alone, there
was the close taste of goodness
for complete enjoyment . Laikon
Cafe has been on Monroe since

1930, and is no stranger to seek-
ers of good Greek dishes . . . It
was Saturday night so were lucky
to have the Easter Lemon Soup
which is served only on that day
. .. The taste is altogether different
from the regular type Lemon Soup
one finds in a Grecian dining spot
. . . Of course everyone had to
have an authentic Greek Salad .. .
Orders were for Chicken Pilaf,
Shish Kabob, Baked Shish Ke
Pap and a Combination Plate lined
with tasty Grecian morsels like
stuffed grape leaves, rice pilafi,
spinach, okra, green beans, potatoes
and cauliflower . . . each cooked
in a separate delicious way . . .
This was a most interesting and
enjoyable selection . . . The Shish
Kabob of choice chunks of meat
was different in its goodness . . .
Everyone shared the generous por-
tions and were glad there was
enough to go around . . . It may
have been the first time we've
eaten at Laikon Cafe . . . but it
certainly won't be the last!

FOLKS TRAVELING abroad and
visiting Paris will find Tour
D'Argent rightfully hailed by
many as the finest dining place
in the world, which of course will
be open to debate by those who
have their own favorite . . . After
an aperitif with the wine steward
in the cave, adjourn to the sixth
floor dining rooms for perhaps,
Filets de sole grille Frederic, puff
potatoes, a green salad, a small
bottle of Graves and a fine Champ-
agne cognac . . . The filets de sole
is a specialty . . . It consists of an
envelope of sole, stuffed with
creamed, poached sea pike and
served with Bernaise sauce.
