Schumer's Firm Buys
Ann Arbor Laundry

Harry Schumer, president of the
General Linen Supply Co. an-
nounces the purchase of the Var-
sity Laundry and Supply Co. of
Ann Arbor. The 62-year-old com-
pany was acquired from Morris
Dalitz of Ann Arbor, who will re-
main with the new company as a
consultant.
William Schumer, 43, of Oak
Park, will serve as president of
Varsity Laundry and Linen. He is
the father of three children, is
a member of Cong. S h a a r e y
Zedek, former board member of
the Jewish Family and Childrens
Service and is currently a mem-
ber of the Oak Park School Board.
He is a graduate of the University

of Michigan.

with a breakfast meeting open to
all men of the temple, without

and Bill Buntin, former star of the
University of Michigan basketball
team and now a member of the
Pistons. The program, under the
chairmanship of Arthur Munson
and co-chairmen Joseph Hacker
and Sidney Fuller, will be preceded
by a short business meeting in-
cluding the installation of officers.

Veterans' Friend, Sherman Goldman,
to Be Honored by Bnai Brith Council

Pisgah Lodge and Chapter, in
conjunction with the Bnai Brith
Men's and Women's Councils of
Detroit, will sponsor a Community
Veterans' Service Award Night,
8:30 p.m. Monday at the Labor
Zionist Institute.

and an active

erans' hospitals
in Michigan for
the past 10 years,
will receive a
national Bnai
Goldman
Brith Award for
his dedication and devotion to
this cause.
He and his committee have ob-
tained top entertainers for hos-
p i t a l variety shows; conducted
games and distributed gifts at
holiday time, presented boxing and
wrestling shows and many other
activities for the patients.
A few years ago, Goldman, a
ham radio operator, launched a
project, "Radio Operation Hos-
pital," whereby patients could send
messages to their families in the
United States and overseas.
Plans are being made to install
a permanent bay radio station at
the Dearborn VA Hospital.
A Bnai Brith Women's Dis-
trict 6 award will be presented
this same evening to Mrs. David
Beck, a member of the Down-
town-Fox Chapter.
For the past five years, Mrs.
Beck has been known as the "Re-

serving coffee and home - baked
cakes and cookies to the veterans.
She also provides gifts to the
patients and parties an all holi-
days.

The awards will be presented
by Milton Weinstein, past presi-
dent of the Bnai Brith Council
and a Bnai Brith national com-
missioner.
