In reversing the guilty verdict
against Samuel Sp e i s k y, Luis
Faerverguer and Leonardo Lunian-
sky, the court judgment stated that
"frequent incidents had created
a state of anxiety, especially since
police action was taken in such
attacks in very few instances."
BONN (JTA). — Leaders of the
neo -Nazi National Democratic
Party, fourth largest to enter the
West German elections to be held
next Sunday, visited the graves of
the Nazi war criminals executed
after the Nuremberg trials, in
Landsberg. At the cemetery, Franz
Winter, a party organizer, said
that "while the world thinks of
Auschwitz and Belsen, nobody
visits these graves here." The party
has put up 500 candidates, and
claims to have 12,000 paid-up mem-
bers. Its better known adherents
include a number of well-known
neo-Nazis.
PARIS (JTA) — Swastikas were
found Monday to have been drawn
at the entrances to the homes of
two Jewish correspondents. Two
were on the facade of the home
of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency
correspondent here, one had been
drawn at the entrance to the apart-
ment occupied by the Paris repre-
sentative of the Israeli daily, Ha-
artez.
JOHANNESBURG (JTA) —
Vandals smeared anti-S e m i t i c
slogans and swastikas on 12 tomb-
stones in the old Jewish cemetery
of Pretoria. The police are investig-
ating the case. Among the slogans,
scrawled in red paint, were "Hang
All Jews," "Hang Ben-Gurion," and
"Down With All Jews."
BERLIN • (JTA) — Anti-Semitic
slogans, including one stating "the
Fuehrer was right," were found
by police on several buildings in
West Berlin. One of the defaced
buildings was that of the head-
quarters of the West Berlin police.
Despite determined efforts by po-
lice, no clues were found to the
identity of the vandals.
DUSSELDORF (JTA) — Kurt
Franz, former commandant of the
Treblinka death camp, filed an ap-
peal from his conviction and life
sentence for participating in the
mass murders at the camp. He was
the only one of the 10 former SS
officers and guards at the camp
to plead not guilty during the ten-
month trial which ended in Aug-
ust. He was sentenced on Sept. 3.
