ices were held here Sept. 2 for DT.

bi, scholar and author, who died
here at age 63. Born in. Lodz,
Poland, Rabbi Zwierzynski lived for
many years in Paris, wher e he
taught at the Emile Rabbinique. He

was the author of numerous essays
and several pamphlets on Jewish
subjects.

TRENTON, N. J. (JTA) — Leon-
hard Felix Fuld, prominent Jewish
attorney, economist, realtor and
philanthropist, died here Aug. 31
at age 82. His philanthropic end-
eavors were largely concerned
with aiding the health and welfare
of nursing students at various hos-
pitals, which received more than
$10,000,000 from him during his
lifetime.
Born in New York, Mr. Fuld
was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of
Columbia University, where he
earned five degrees. For many
years he was an instructor in
economics and business admini-
stration at the Bernard M. Baruch
School of Business Administration
of the City College in New York.
Mr. Fuld died in Helen E.
Fuld Hospital, which changed its
name to memorialize his mother
in gratitude for his contribu-
tions. A bachelor, with no sur-
vivors, he lived in a Harlem
slum while contributing funds
in the millions.
Abraham Rosenberg, executive
director of the hospital for Joint
Diseases in Harlem, said Fuld
looked very shabby when he first
came to Rosenberg's office to offer
his money. "He told me that other
hospitals had practically thrown
him out. He said I was the first
who had been kind and courteous
to him." Mr. Fuld later gave the
hospital land for a nursing school
and funds to build it.

Louis Kaplan Dies;

was on the synagogue board.
During World War I, Mr. Kaplan
operated a seed and produce busi-
ness and serviced horses being
shipped overseas for use on the
battlefronts of Europe. Later, he
went into real estate and was for
a time part owner of the Tivoli
Theater. He also owned and oper-
ated the Monroe Hotel on Pitt St.
E., which has been razed to make
room for a multi-level parking ga-
rage.
Besides his work with Shaar
Hashomayim, Mr. Kaplin was a life
member of Harmony Lodge, F&AM,
and belonged to Shriners Club and
Bnai Brith.

three sisters, Mrs. Diana Oppen-
heimer of New York and Mrs.
Harry (Rose) Speyer and Ida, both
of Oak Park.
