Summer Synagogue on Woodhull Lake Pays Off Mortgage The summer congregation on Woodhull Lake has made the final mortgage payment on its 15-year- old synagogue and center. Isidore Sosnick, president, made the announcement at a recent gathering of the congregation, made up entirely of summer cot- tage residents in t h e lakes area near Pontiac. The Woodhull Lake Congrega- tion, in existence for 25 y ears, holds Sabbath services Fridays Sosnick and Saturdays in a $35,000 build- ing, financed by seasonal contri- butions from property owners and members. Sosnick officiates. There is an active sisterhood for the three-month duration of the congregation June to Labor Day, and the summer congregants number some 94 families. Services are Orthodox in tenor, but guests are of all denominations. It is the only synagogue of its kind in Michigan. Bnai Moshe Set to Start Religious School Classes Cong. Bnai Moshe Religious School will initiate its academic year Sept. 19. With a staff of 15 instructors the school has Sunday classes 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. History, literature and Hebrew are basic courses. Students age 4 to 16 are in- vited to attend the school, which this year has added such extra- curricular activities in Israeli dancing, arts and crafts and ex- panded library facilities. Walter Farber, director of the religious school, recently returned from Cornell University where a seminar for Jewish educators was conducted under the direction of the Jewish Agency and with the cooperation of Baltimore Hebrew college, Gratz College in Philadel- phia and Hebrew Teachers College, Boston .
