EDWARD MORSE Two resolutions to alleviate some problems of Detroits' senior citizens have been introduced be- fore the Detroit Common Council by Councilman Edward Connor. The first would extend the hours and days under which the Depart- ment of Street Railways would of- fer reduced price service to De- troits' senior citizens. The second would provide for greatly expanded housing facilities for the elderly to be included in all future residential urban rede- velopment programs undertaken by the City. Kaltman & Co., Inc. has made a research grant for the develop- ment of medical applications of ferromagnetic materials to t h e Weizmann Institute of Science un- der an agreement with Yeda Re- search and Development Co., an affiliate of the Institute. This work will be carried out under the direc- tion of Prof. E. H. Frei, head of the electronics department of the Institute. The initial grant of $80,000 will cover a two period. This announcement was made jointly by Emanuel L. Wolf, presi- dent of D. Kaltman & Co., Inc., and Prof. Shneior Lifson, scientific director of the Weizmann Institute in Rehovoth, Israel. Wolf indicated that further research grants may be subsequently sponsored in other research areas.
