Koufax Wins 20th As He Defeats :nets 4-3

LOS ANGELES — Sandy Koufax
became the first 20-game winner in
the majors this season when the
Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New
York Mets 4-3 Tuesday.
This was the earliest a pitcher
has won his 20th game since 1962.
Koufax has lost only four games
this season, and the win extended
his career record over the Mets
to 13-0. •
According to an AP report, Kou-
fax is in line to become baseball's
first $100,000-a-year pitcher.
Los Angeles Dodgers general
manager Buzzie Bavazi remarked
after Sandy's 20th victory over
the New York Mets, "He's worth it
and he'll get it." Bavazi continu-
ed: "Sandy puts an extra 5,000
people in the park every time he
pitches."
Actual attendance figures show
