Mrs. Fannie Gould, one of De- troit's "first ladies," having been active in religious and communal affairs here 52 years, died Monday at age 98. In spite of her age, Mrs. Gould, 18490 Roselawn, regularly at- tended meetings of organizations up until two years ago, when she became ill. Among her affiliations were Lechem Aneeim, Jewish Na- tional Fund, United Hebrew Schools, Mizrachi, Chesed shel Emes and a number of philan- thropies in Israel. With her late husband, Israel, an early builder in this city, she was a member of Cong. Mishkan Israel ever since they came here to live 52 years ago. Mrs. Gould, born in Sokolka, Russia, visited Israel in 1932. Survivors are seven sons, Dr. I. D., Carl, Ben, Irving, Litman, Louis and Morris; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Green; two brothers, Abra- ham and Max Berris; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Cohen of Boston; 15 grand- children, 26 great - grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
