An Israeli dance troup has been
organized in the greater Detroit
area. Calling itself HA-RIVEIA,
the group consists of eight mem-
bers, age 14-16, who started as
a team while in an Israeli dance
course offered by the United
Hebrew Schools. Organized to
further the knowledge of Israeli
culture in the Detroit area, the
group has performed at the Inter-
national Institute and at Ford
Auditorium for the UHS gradua-
tion ceremonies. They have also
done numerous benefits for lead-
Mg synagogues in the Detroit
area. The group now is arranging
for private appearances. For in-

WARSAW — Several Polish-
Jewish personalities were included
in the list of decorations of the
Polish Council of State published
Tuesday in connection with the
21st uprising against the German
occupation.
Gipel Rosenbaum, veteran Com-
munist and resistance fighter, was
awarded the Order of Polonia
Restituta, a very high distinction.
The same award was given to
Michael Lieberman and Gedalia
Lasker, both veteran workers of
the Polish Communist Party.
Lasker is very active in the Jew-
ish Cultural and Social Associa-
tion.

meet Bob Akers finished sixth in
the discus throw, and Marty Eis-
ner was sixth in the shot. Akers is
from San Jose State, while Eisner
is from Kent State in Ohio . . . In
Britain, Ray Roseman ran three-
fastest ever
miles in 13:49.6, the

recorded by a Anglo-Jewish run-
ner . . . Dan Rosen won the high
school 880-yard run at the New
York State meet. His time was
1:53.9 . . . Rich Herman of San
Diego State finished second in the
880-yard run at the NCAA small
college meet. His time, 1:51.8, was
the same as the winners.
Don Zisquit, a sophomore at
Yeshiva University in New
York, is the Metropolitan col-
lege tennis champion. He has

Abe Segal of South Africa, the

34-year-old tennis veteran, played
the longest championship match
ever played in Britain. It happen-
ed at the Queens Club tourney in
London. Segal and his American
opponent went 86 games that last-
ed over four hours. Segal was the
eventual winner by a score of 10-
12, 12-10, 22-20.
