NEW YORK—Carnegie Corp. of
New York has granted Brandeis
Vows Set for Aug. 18 University
$43,725 to conduct an

eight-week preparatory program for
some 25 highly able but disad-
vantaged students who will enter
Brandeis and other universities
this fall.
The program runs through Aug.

JEAN ENNIS has been appoint-
ed director of pubilcity and pub-
lic relations for Random House,
Alfred A. Knopf and Pantheon
publishers. She was formerly in

House only. She will continue to

can-Jewish playwright, was elected
president of P.E.N., the interna-
tional writers association, at the,
organization's congress in Bled,
Yugoslavia. Miller was named to
the post unanimously after the
French delegation withdrew its
candidate in the first contested
election in the organization's his-
tory. He will serve for a three-
year term.

More than $1,000,000 for the eco-
nomic development of Israel was
raised here at a dinner honoring
ANTHONY SCOTTO, president of
Local 650 of the International
Longshoreman's Association, AFL-
CIO. More than 650 representa-
tives of 40 trade unions, as well
as management representatives of
the maritime industry, attended
the dinner. Sen. Wayne Morse of
Oregon was the principal speaker.

The Michigan Chapter of the
American Society for Group Psy-
chotherapy and Psychodrama
elected as president for the
coming term HENRY FEINBERG,
clinical psychologist. MRS.
ROBERT S. DREWS, group direc-
tor and psychotherapist, was elect-
ed secretary-treasurer. Margaret
Parrish is vice president, and
directors include Dr. Robert S.
Drews, Inez Silk, Martha Stein-
metz and Cecelia G. Wells. All
officers are fellows of the Ameri-
can Society of Group Psycho-
therapy and Psychodrama.

BERNARD L. GOTTLIEB, ex-
ecutive director of the Hartford
Jewish Federation, arrived in Mel-
bourne to conduct a survey of
Jewish fund-raising and communal
organizations in Melbourne and
Sydney, His services also will be
made available to the Victorian
Jewish Board of Deputies.

At a meeting in Chicago of the
board of governors of District
Grand Lodge No. 6, Bnai Brith,
Ben Z. Nudelman, its president,
announced the retirement of BEN
Z. GLASS Thursday, upon com-
pletion of 25 years of service as
executive secretary of the organi-
zation.
