in her honor to Yeshiva Univer-
sity's Albert Einstein College of
Medicine.
She herself was a benefactor of
the Sadie C. Annenberg Music
School of the Williamsburg settle-
ment in Brooklyn and gave many
gifts to the state of Israel, includ-
ing the Sadie C. Annenberg Soil
and Irrigation Institution.
Another facility that bears the
Annenberg name is the school of
communications at the University
of Pennsylvania, built as a memo-
rial to Moses Louis Annenberg,
publisher of the Philadelphia In-
quirer and many other papers. He
died in 1942.
Annenberg credited his wife
with the idea with which he
amassed his first fortune: a mail-
order business in teaspoons. But
he credited her most for the home
she kept for him and the children.
Married in 1899, Mrs. Annen-
berg was the daughter of a mer-
chant who moved from New York
to Chicago when she was a young
girl.
