Rothschilds Seek to Halt Sales of Book, 'The Jews ' PARIS—Barons Guy and Ed- mond de Rothschild and Baroness Bathsheba de Rothschild are seek- ing to prevent the continued sale of a best selling book, "Les Juifs" (The Jews) by Roger Peyrefitte. Published last month by Flam- marion, a major publisher, the novel advances the idea that Jews hold important positions in all phases of French life and that a great number of leading world per- sonalities are Jews without know- ing it. Named are President Johnson, the late President K e n n e d y, Charles de Gaulle of France, Queen Elizabeth of England, former West German Chancellor Konrad Ade- nauer, Generalissimo Francisco Franco of Spain, Premier Fidel Castro of Cuba, the Swedish Royal house and the Hapsburgs. Another is the notorious Torquemada, head of the Spanish Inquisition in the 15th Century. The book also re- veals so-called "secrets" about the Rothschild dynasty. Dr. Sachar said the events which followed the proclamation of the State of Israel in 1948 were "only one of history's warnings" to Jews and that the realism he proposed was safer and healthier for Jews. He added that few international Jewish organizations so sensibly followed the principle of self-help as did ORT which, from the begin- ning, has sought to reduce the "luftmensch" weakness of Jewish existance by teaching perfect craftsmanship to its students. He warned against "the decline of sensitivity among Jews active in communal endeavors," declared that "too many of us have become quite tired, a wall of impervious. ness is emerging, we are less re- sponsive, our sensitivity has been blunted."
