Convention Here Starting Sunday

"Be an Informed Jewish Librar-
ian" will be the theme of the Jew-
ish Library Association Conven-
tion to be held in Detroit Sunday
through Wednesday.
The parley coincides with the
American Library Association Con-
vention being held here. An exec-
utive meeting 3 p.m. Sunday at
the Park Shelton Hotel will open
the four-day conclave. ALA gen-
eral sessions at Cobo Hall and a
Detroit Public Library Reception
will be held that evening.

their daughter Victoria Joy to Ben-
jamin H. Craine, son of Mr. and

cuse University and is now at
Wayne State University. Mr.
Craine, a graduate of Wharton
School of Commerce and Finance
of the University of Pennsylvania,
now attends Wayne State Univer-
sity.
An early fall wedding is plan-

Akiva Day School
Reveals Plans for
Oak Park Building

Plans have been announced for
the Akiva Hebrew Day School to
be relocated in Oak Park. Early
next year, the school will move
into new quarters now under con-
struction by the Young Israel Cen-
ter of Oak-Woods.
The educational wing of Young
Israel will have nine classrooms
plus a kindergarten room, school
offices and adequate dining and
recreational facilities to handle
the growth of the Akiva Hebrew
Day School. The new facilities
will provide for the operation of
complete elementary and junior
high divisions.
Registration for the 1965-66 aca-
demic year at Akiva is now in
progress. For information, call the
school, 342-9119.

ing luncheon at Temple Israel,

a program, featuring a skit on "A
Day in a Jewish Library." Work-
shop sessions on audio visual aids
and library administration will be
directed by Janet Landsberg, Dav-
id Elazar and Elaine Williams.

Continuing through Oct. 1, the
DETROIT HISTORICAL MU-
SEUM, is presenting an exhibit
entitled "Historic Buildings in
Detroit." The Museum, located at
Woodward and Kirby, is open
Tuesday through Sunday from 9
a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Monday. Ad-
mission free.
