"Let's just describe him as ethically dis- oriented." All the Detroit cantors were on the platform as participants in the concert and the Maariv serv- ice. Representative rabbis and lay leaders shared in the pro- gram, greeting Cantor Sonen- klar, who had a leading role in the evening's musical perform. ance and who delivered a brief address expressing thanks for the honors accorded him. Among the selections was the Birhat Kohanim which was com- posed by Frohman and was dedi- cated to his lifelong friend, Cantor Sonenklar. In addition to the Maariv serv- ice, which was divided among several of the participating soloists, there were several other liturgical numbers.
