Saks Fifth Avenue
to Locate at
Somerset Mall

Saks Fifth Avenue announced yester-
day that it will build a new suburban
More in the Detroit metropolitan area.

The nation's leading women's spe-
cialty shop revealed that it will be the
prime tenant of a quality shopping
center for Somerset Park, the huge,
multi-million dollar apartment village
in Troy,

Yesterday's announcement was made

vice president and general manager of

He told newsmen that the decision
was based on the store's faith in, "the
Detroit area in general and the Birm-
'..)n2tham-Troy-Bloomfield area in particu-
lar as typified by the development of
Somerset Park."

His announcement came at a press
conference held at Somerset Park, lo-
cated at Coolidge and Maple Road.

Phillip Stollman and Samuel Frankel,
'Spokesmen for the Biltmore Develop-
ment Company, developers of Somerset
Park said that negotiations had been
taking place with Saks Fifth Avenue for
the past three months.

Stollman said that Saks Fifth Avenue
tall occupy its own building at the en-
‘1.osed-mall shopping center which will
be situated on the southeast corner of
the intersection of Coolidge and Big
Beaver (Sixteen Mile) Road.

"We feel this decision by Saks Fifth
Avenue reflects the same faith that we
{ have shown by undertaking in this area
,ione of the largest apartment residence
developments in the history of the na-
tion," said Stollman. "It's a marriage
of endeavor between Saks Fifth Avenue
and our program to develop Somerset
Park into the nation's finest residential
community."

Fifth Avenue building as a two-story
siructure of contemporary design that

Park by the architectural firm of Levine,

This is the same architectural firm
which designed the entire 2,000 unit

is now under construction at Coolidge
and Fifteen Mile (Maple) Road, and
east from Coolidge to a point close to
Crooks Road.
