Works by Yari Levine in NFTS Art Calendar Striking reproductions in color of paintings on Jewish themes by the widely acclaimed American ar- tist Yari Levine illustrate the art calendar isuued by the National Federation of Temple Sister- hoods for the year 5726 which will begin at sun- down on Sept. 26. Among the il- lustrations is the painting entitled "Exodus", an out- standing example of Mrs. Levine's work in the per- manent c o 11 e c- tion of the West- chester Reform Temple, Scar s- dale, N.Y. H e r paintings are also Mrs. Levine in the permanent collection of the House of Living Judaism of the Union of American Hebrew Con- gregations in New York as well as in many private collections throughout the country. Yari Levine was born in Russia of a learned rabbinical family and emigrated to America with her family in 1927. After graduat- ing in fine arts from Pratt Insti- tute, Brooklyn, she studied under Prominent artists in various Art Schools and is a member of the National Association of Women Artists. With her husband and two sons, Mrs. Levine lives on Long Island where she has her studio and teaches. - . The new presi-. dent of Beth Abraham is a third-generation Schlaff member of the 74-year-old Beth Abraham congregation, and he has served as a president of its Men's Club and as chairman of the congregation's board of trustees. Thumin is the son of the congre- gation's late rabbi, Joseph Thu- min, who served as spiritual leader of Beth Abraham for 50 years prior to his death in 1963. Kaufer has served on the execu- tive board as recording secretary and as ch.airman of special proj- ects of the congregation. He has held the office of Galician Society president 10 years.
