Arlazaroff Farband Celebrants

At the Arlazaroff Farband Branch 137 Yom Ha-Atzmaut gather-

guest ; and Ron Eliran, Israeli entertainer, as guest artist.

News Brevities

DR. ALBERT ELLIS, one of
America's outstanding psycho-
therapists and authors, will give a
public lecture on "Emotion-al Prob-
lems: Their Cause and Cure" 8:30
p.m. Saturday at the Jewish Cen-
ter. Dr. Ellis, a psychologist in
private practice in New York and
the executive director of the In-
stitute for Rational Living, Inc.,
will be in Detroit to conduct a pro-
fessional workshop on rational-
emotive psychotherapy and mar-,
riage counseling. He is the author
of numerous articles and books on
sex and marriage. Tickets are
available at the Michigan Institute
for Rational Living, BR 2-2230.

RICHARD TUCKER, the Metro-
politan Opera tenor, will be joined
by ARTHUR FIEDLER and the
American Symphony Orchestra at
the annual Music Under the Stars
at Madison Square Garden, New
York, Sunday evening. The event,
sponsored by the Humanity Club
for the America-Israel Cultural
Foundation, seeks to raise. _funds
for cultural projects in Israel.
Other guest artists include Carol
Lawrence, Sergio Franchi and
Jackie Mason, with George Jesse'
and Martin Gabel as masters of
ceremonies. Rounding out the eve-
ning's entertainment w i 11 be
ITZHAK PERLMAN, the young
Israeli violinist who, as winner of
last year's Leventritt Award, has
performed as soloist with the New
York Philharmonic, and SHUL-
AMIT RAN, 17-year-old Israeli
pianist-composer who has studied
and performed in the U.S.

great deal -of President Johnson's
fan mail by publishing A DAY
AT THE LBJ RANCH, written and
illustrated by Sam • Savitt. Presi-
dent Johnson has received mil-
lions of letters from American
children, and most of them ask
about life down at the LBJ Ranch
near Johnson City, Texas. Sayre
Ross, the author's cousin, con-
ceived the idea of having a Boy
Scout and a Girl Scout visit the
ranch, along with Savitt, who
sketched the scouts as they met
the President.

of the Detroit chapter of Ameri-
