Gov. Romney, Keating Belkin Praise
Wide Accomplishments of Yeshiva U.
,
Governor George Romney join-
ed in acclaiming the values of
Yeshiva University at the annual
dinner of the Detroit Friends of
the university, Wednesday, at the
Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel.
Guest speakers at the event,
which marked the 50th birthday
of Florence Goldberg, whose hus-
band, David Goldberg, most active
worker here for the university,
covered all costs of the dinner,
were former U. S. Senator Ken-
neth Keating and Yeshiva Uni-
versity President Dr. Samuel
Belkin.
Louis Berry presided at the
event, Abraham Borman greeted
the gathering, John Lurie an-
nounced numerous large gifts and
announced scholarships in honor
of a group of women.
Mrs. Goldberg was presented
with a "Lamp of Learning"
signifying that her husband con-
tributed scholarships for the next
four years to the university in
honor of her birthday.
Scholarships were announced in
honor of Mesdames Max Stollman,
Joseph Holtzman, Benjamin Lev-
inson, Ed Levy, Tom Borman,
John Lurie, Louis Elliman, Nathan
Friedman, Nathan Goldin, Sam
Hectm an, William Fisher and
Jacob Goldman.
Louis Berry and Senator Keat-
ing reviewed the progress of
Yeshiva University and described
its growth in a decade from 800
to 5,000 students, from a faculty
of 94 to 1,200, from an annual
budget of $500,000 to $30,000,000—
with a vast expansion program
that includes research in medi-
cine, mathematics, education.
Governor Romney, having come
from other functions out of res-
pect to Senator Keating, praised
Yeshiva University's functions.
Upon completing his brief re-
marks, he returned to the podium
to say he was glad to see in the
audience the parents of Max
Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. William
Fisher, who were to meet him
for the first time, and he stated:
-"There is no man I owe as much
to in this state as Max Fisher."
Dr. Belkin spoke on "Justice,"
applying it to mankind's grem.
needs today.
Senator Keating took occasion
to say he would be "proud, t( \
support Governor Romney for any
office in the land."
Rabbis Hayim Donin and
James Gordon gave the opening
and closing prayers. Dr. Jacob
Goldman led in the reciting of the
the Birkat Hamazon. Emma Sch-
aver led in the singing of the na-
tional anthems.
Shrinks Hemorrhoids
Without Surgery
Stops Itch—Relieves Pain
For the first time science has-found
a new healing substance with the as-
tonishing ability to shrink hemor-
rhoids and to relieve pain — without
surgery. In case after case, while
gently relieving pain, actual reduc-
tion (shrinkage) took place. Most
amazing of all — results were so thor-
ough that sufferers made astonishing
statements like "Piles have ceased to
be a problem!" The secret is a new
healing substance (Bio-Dyne®)— dis-
covery of a world-famous research
institute. This substance is now avail-
able in suppository or ointment form
called Preparation Ha. At all drug
counters.
