(JTA) — The American Trade Union Conference for Histadrut concluded its third annual meeting attended by some 250 leaders representing American labor groups. During the three days of de- liberations thiS week, the speakers emphasized the various aspects of social and educational achieve- ments in Israel which could serve as examples to American labor. James Farmer, national director of the Congress of Racial Equality, urged the establishment of indus- trial as well as agricultural co- operatives in the Southern states, modeled after Histadrut enter- prises. Ben Zion Ilan, special emissary of Histadrut, said that the car- dinal task of Histadrut during the coming decade is to "translate the membership of the new immigrants into social and cultural terms and to infuse the principles of pioneer- ing into the younger generation."
