Zionist Council to Push
Aliyah by U.S. Jews

NEW YORK (JTA) — Recom-
omendations that the American
Zionist Council, the coordinating
agency of American Zionist organ-
izations, make promotion of im-
migration to Israel by American
Jews one of its central activities
were approved at the National
Conference of the Council.
The conference made the rec-
ommendations after hearing an ap-
peal from S. Z. Shragai, head of
the Jewish Agency Aliyah Depart-
ment, that the council become the
standard bearer in the United
States of the ideal of aliyah. He
proposed this be done through
the cooperation of all Zionist
groups affiliated with the council.
One recommendation proposed
that the council, through its con-
stituent groups, should initiate
the formation of aliyah groups.
Another was a request that the
Aliyah Department and the exec-
utive of the Jewish Agency in Is-
rael plan activities for aliyah and
absorption of American immi-
grants in conformity with the
special needs and conditions of
American settlers.
The conference also agreed that
the Council considered the Asso-
ciation of Americans and Cana-
dians in Israel as the liaison body
between immigrants from the
United States and the Jewish
Agency and the Israel govern-
ment.

IN TOMATO SAUCE

Hillel Day School, founded
seven years ago, has added a

class each year and now its
"upper classmen" will enter
eighth grade in the fall. Its Heb-
raic-religious training "is in the
spirit of traditional Judaism and
within the framework of the
Conservative movement," ac-
cording to Rabbi Jacob E. Segal,
a founder of the school and its
past president.

A year ago last December, Moshe
Sharret, former prime minister of
Israel, visited the school and later

said of it:
"The knowledge of Hebrew and

the capacity and desire to speak it
are increasing in the United States.
Most heartening of all to me was
the Hillel Day School in Detroit.

THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Friday, June 4, 1965-11

Why? Because families like yours which use vegetarian beans
wouldn't buy any kind but Heinz. As you know well, switching from
one brand of a product to another is almost the style these days. Then
how come the unswitchability of H.V. B.? Is it the*©seal that makes
the big difference? Or the delightful flavor of the tomato sauce? Or
the popularity of H.V. B. with the children? Or the confidence
in the name Heinz? Maybe it's all four reasons! Could be!
