Teen-Alters Urge Parents
to Consider Their Jewish
Education 'Family Affair'

Jewish education can and should
be a family affair, it is the opin-
ion of a panel of Florida teen-
agers in the current issue of Keep-
ing Posted, the magazine for Jew-
ish teen-agers, teachers and par-
ents published by the Union of

American Hebrew Congregations.
The 9th grade panel, from
Temple Beth Sholom in Miami
Beach, said parents have no right
to send their children to religious
school if they themselves don't
know "what Judaism is all about."
V o l u n t a r y adult education
courses for adults and an inspiring
"spiritual" atmosphere in the
home were suggested, as well as a
weekly class discussion for parents,
"on the identical lessons of their
children."
A mother pointed out that the
home must work hand-in-glove
with the religious school, but "the
home effort must begin long be-
fore the child attends religious
school."
