Study Club Chorale to Present Musical Program Workmen's Circle

Simons to Celebrate
to Pay Tribute to 50 Years Together

The choral group of the Music Study Club will present a program under the direction of Don
Frohman 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the International Institute. Edith Haladjoff, a scholarship student of
the Music Study Club, will be guest violinist on the program, which will be preceded by dessert

JFCS Honors
Catholic Couple
as Foster Parents

A Catholic mother of seven is
the Foster Mother of the Year of
the Jewish Family and Children's
Service.
Mrs. Leon Stahl and her hus-
' band, of 11485 Wilfred, were
among the 11 couples honored by
the Committee for Foster Chil-
dren at a luncheon last week at
the Veterans Memorial Building.
Seven years ago, Mrs. Stahl an-
swered a newspaper ad placed by
an unnamed agency in need of
temporary foster homes for in-
fants who would be placed for
adoption. The agency turned out
to be the Jewish Family and Chil-
dren's Service.
Since January 1957, the Stahls
have cared for 10 newly born in-
fants for periods of from a few
weeks to 15 months. They have 17
grandchildren of their own.

David Fogels to Mark
62 Years of Marriage

Mr. and Mrs. David Fogel, mar-
ried May 15, 1903, will observe
their 62nd wedding anniversary
Sunday at a celebration in the
Southfield Nursing Home, where
both are residents.
The couple, married in McKees-
port, Pa., have three children,
Lewis of Hollywood, Fla., Mrs.
Bella Rockman and Sidney; seven
grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren.
Mr. Fogel, 84, and his wife, 83,
will attend the wedding in Joie
of their grandson Dennis Fogel to
Cheryl Goodman here.

ATM Activities

ISRAEL CHAPTER will hold
its first membership tea 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday in the home of Mrs. Her-
man Lutchansky, 25572 Filmore,
Southfield. There will be a dem-
onstration of floral arrangements,
and refreshments will be served.
Each chapter member must bring
a prospective member to be eli-

A 14-point "declaration of faith"
outlining proposals for strengthen-
ing the role of Bnai Brith in Jew-
ish community life was released
this week by Dr. William A. Wex-
ler of Savannah, candidate for the
international presidency of the
organization.
Bnai Brith will elect a president
to succeed incumbent Label A.
Katz at its triennial convention in
Israel, May 23-
27. Katz is com-
pleting his sec-

A memorial gathering honoring
the late Joseph Bernstein will ie
held 2:30 p.m. May 23 at the
Joseph Bernstein Auditorium of
the Workmen's Circle Center.
Friends of the Workmen's Circle,
Mr. Bernstein's co-workers and
represenatives of Jewish organiza-
tions and institutions where he was
active for over 50 years, will take
part.
Speakers will be Dr. Shmarya
Kleinman, chairman of the Jew-
ish Labor Committee; Arthur
Schecter of Grand Rapids; repre-
sentatives of the Jewish Commu-
niy Council and Home for the
Aged; William Avrunin, executive
director of the Jewish Welfare
Federation; and Mordecai Tyler of
the Workmen's Circle, Reizen
Shule.
Monroe Title, chairman of the
Workmen's Circle District Com-
mittee, will preside.
The tribute is arranged by
