Giant Rally to Start Drive for retitions Against Russ Bias 4110 NEW YORK (JTA) — A mass meeting, sponsored by the New York Conference on Soviet Jewry, a body composed of 28 local and national Jewish organizations, will be held June 3 at Madison Square Garden here to protest the sup- pression of religious and cultural freedom of Soviet Jewry, it was announced by Label Katz, chair- man of the American Jewish Con- ference on Soviet Jewry. Katz said that the rally, which will be the largest single protest against Soviet Jewish discrimina- tion to be held anywhere in the world, will initiate a drive to amass 1,000,000 signatures to peti- tions urging President Johnson to use his influence upon Soviet lead- ership to extend to Soviet Jewry those rights to pursue religious and cultural expression granted other Soviet minorities. Meanwhile, in Washington Sen. George Murphy, California R•pub- lican, called on chairman J. W. Fulbright of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to help bring forth a favorable committee report on the Ribicoff resolution, con- demning Soviet anti-Semitism "at the earliest possible time." Sen Murphy cited the new State Department position favoring adop- tion of the resolution. An identical resolution has been introduced in the House. Hearings are expected to begin soon in the House. * * * GEORGE OHRENSTE1N Certified Master Watchmaker and Jeweler Invites You to See a Spring Showing of Fine REnEvA :NeucHATEL OBSERVATORY OBSERVATORY OMEGA WATCHES FRIDAY, MAY 7th and SATURDAY, MAY From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Presented by JERRY SILLMAN Factory Representative SELP•WINOINO LADYMATIO, CAPPHETTC CRYSTAL $140 SELF-VaNDINE4 SEAMASTER, DATE•DIAL $120 Justice Goldberg Urges UN Study of Soviet Bias NEW YORK (JTA)—Creation of a neutral, fact-finding interna- tional commission, under the aegis of. the United Nations, to investi- gate religious discriminations in any part of the world was pro- posed here Sunday night by.
