Announcement was made by the National Jewish Welfare Board and the Jewish Agency for Israel. The program is designed to pro- vide Israeli professional social workers and youth leaders with a broader concept of Jewish life outside Israel and to help strength- en Jewish programing in Ameri- can Jewish centers. Tarmon is one of seven Israelis to join the staffs of six different American centers. The employ- ment of the Israelis is also aimed at enhancing their own profes- sional training and usefulness when they return to Israel and at giving them an understanding of Jewish life in the United States. The second half of the exchange program with Israel will bring 23 professional Jewish center work- ers from the United States to Israel for an intensive seven-week training seminar. From July 7 to Aug. 26 the American social workers will take courses in the Hebrew language, Jewish history, customs and cere- monies, study the background of Israel and the operations of Is- raeli youth and recreation pro- grams and travel extensively through the country.
