Dr. Bir- renbach served as Chancellor Lud- wig Erhard's special emissary in negotiating terms of the diplomatic recognition during three trips to Israel. Full agreement on all "material" portions of the diplomatic exchange agreement was reached by the for- eign ministries of West Germany and Israel, the Bonn government's official spokesman said in Bonn Tuesday. He declared that only some minor points remain to be worked out, and revealed that a meeting dealing with those points was held at Cologne Tuesday between repre- sentatives of the German foreign office and members of Israel's mission in Cologne. Dr. Goldmann stressed the ur- gency of getting enabling legislation through the West German Parlia- ment promptly to avoid another year's delay in claims totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. He also reported on the situation of Soviet Jewry. * * * Sobibor Nazis Facing Trial for 250,000 Deaths BONN (JTA)—The trial of 12 former Nazis, charged with mur- dering Jews in the Sobibor .death camp in occupied Poland, will begin next September in Hagen, • was announced here. Some 50,000 Jewish victims were mur- ered in the Sobibor camp, which was located near Lublin. Eleven of the defendants be- longed to Hitler's Elite Guard, the SS, and the twelfth is a former Nazi policeman.
