Spring Bazaar to Highlight the 60th Year Sholem Aleichem Women Honor
of Conservative Beth Moses Congregation Memory of Mrs. Ida Komaroff

Culminating the 60th anniver-
sary year of Beth Moses Synagogue,
members of its Sisterhood will
hold a Spring Bazaar on Sunday
in the social hall.
The women have been working
the year 'round raising funds to
help build a sanctuary for the syna-
gogue, one of the oldest Conserva-
tive congregations in the city.
Items for sale include hand-
made dools, puppets, doll clothes,
aprons, stuffed animals, handicraft
items and an original cook book,
"Balaboste's Culinary Delite,"
compiled by Mrs. Isadore Bern-
stein and Mrs. Myron Spalter.
Among the added attractions
will be WWJ's Bozo the Clown,
Captain Space and His Rockets,
pony rides and a puppet show.
All items are moderately
priced, including lunch for the
family. Admission to the bazaar
is free, and the doors will open
at 10:30 a.m. The public is in-
vited.
The Beth Moses congregation
was founded in 1904. After wor-
shiping in stores, homes and vari-
ous temporary quarters, the con-
gregation built a synagogue on
Linwood and Oakman in 1950.
In 1951, the Evergreen Jewish
Congregation was founded. For a
number of years the congregation's
religious and education activities
were limited. Services were held
in public schools or the social hall
of St. Matthews Methodist Church
on Evergreen Rd.
The synagogue's present struc-
ture at 19160 Evergreen was con-
structed two years later, Beth
Moses and Evergreen Jewish Con-
gregation merged and became
known as Beth Moses Congregation,
bringing together the two Con-
servative synagogues.

Dear Michigan:

Thank you! Thank you! Thank
you! . . . for the gracious way in
which you took Mrs. Adler's pro-
ducts into your home for Passover
. . . and we hope that now that she's
worked her fingers off to the elbows
you will continue to buy them.
Have you ever tried making gefilte
fish with just elbows? But, seriously
folks, we're just delighted at your'
wonderful response!

Mrs. Adler's products are made all year 'round and
include such items as Dumplings, (knaidlach), Gefilte
Fish, six varieties of soup, all parve, and Tzimmis, (like
mother used to burn!)
Love,

Mr. Adler

P.S. You mothers who've never burned your Tzimmis,
please write to me c/o Box 709, The Jewish News,

The Women's League, which
now totals 500 members, began
3 1/i years ago with fewer than six
women. The school, , which cares
for emotionally disturbed chil-
dren, at that time was confronted
with serious financial problems.
The group decided upon a can-
nister drive and recruited more
than 100 friends and relatives to

help them. In one day, the women
collected several thousand dollars,
enough to maintain the school for
a few weeks and allow themselves
time to organize.
Less than four years from that
day, the Women's League raises
over $50,000 annually.
The school is continually grow-
ing and adds new services. Now
the possibility of a new building
is in sight.
The Children's 0 r thogeni c
School is Michigan's only non-
profit day school for emotionally
disturbed children.
