H. Steinhart, prominent Jewish
communal leader and founder of
the San Francisco Jewish Com-
munity Relations Council, died
here March 25 at age 83.
A native of San Francisco, he
was a former president of the
Federation of Jewish Charities, and
of Mt. Zion Hospital. He was an
organizer of the Jewish Community
Bulletin in 1946, and served on its
advisory board.

OAKLAND, Calif. (JTA)—Harry
J. Sapper, executive director em-
eritus of the Alameda and Contra
Costa Counties Jewish Welfare
Federation, and president of the
Jewish Welfare Endowment Foun-
dation, died here Thursday at
age 67. Mr. Sapper headed the
JWF for 34 years, 1915 to 1959,
and headed its development dur-
ing a period of dynamic commun-
al growth.

Retired State Supreme Court
Justice Milton M. Wecht died here
last weekend at age 70. He was a
founder of the United Jewish Ap-
peal, active in the affairs of the
Federation of Jewish philanthro-
pies, and a vice president of the
Brooklyin division of the Jewish
National Fund.
