RABBI SOLOVEICHIK
MAKES STREIT'S
PASSOVER INSPECTION

the Jewish Cen-
ter.
George Jessel,

There's more to making matzoth than just flour and water.
There are literally hundreds of strict regulations which must be
observed from start to finish. The Horowitz Bros. and Margareten
Matzo Bakery in Long Island City, New York, has special sessions
when rabbis, educators, and students from as far away as Baltimore
come to see how matzoth should be and are baked for proper Pass-
over observance. Here we see two information-seeking youngsters,
Jacob Margareten and David Lebor, having their curiosity satisfied
by Harry Margareten, Jacob's father. Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik is
in the foreground, Rabbi Sidney Lebor, the other proud parent di-
rectly behind the boys, with Rabbi Daniel Mehiman alongside.

Young Israel Offers
Pesach Kashering Aid

A "kashering service" to aid
housewives preparing for the Pass-
over has been made available by
Young Israel of Northwest Detroit.
Rabbi Samuel Prero, head of
the congregation, said certain
metal vessels and utensils will be
made kosher for Passover through
the facilities of the YI branch 10
a.m. to noon Wednesday.
According to tradition, each
metal item must be unused for
the 24-hour period preceding the
final kashering and must be free
from rust. The utensil is then
boiled or burned in the finishing
process.
Far information on preparation
and an appointment, call the
Young Israel building, 861 7691.
There is no char g e for the
service.

Streit's Passover matzos
are being made in accord-
ance with the rigid pre-
cepts of Kashruth.
The strict observation

most learned, most rev-
erent Jews that they
may partake of Streit's
Passover matzos with
confidence,
The Streit brothers,
Irving and Jack, express
for the entire Streit

family the wish that,
"they may share—as their
father and his father be-
fore him—the Kovod
rived, more precious than
the gold of Ophir, know-
ing that Streit matzos
will again play the signif-
icant role in the Passover
ceremony as they have
for over half a century."
