Radio Networks Speed Israel's Red Cross Work A $250,000 radio communications network provided by American Red Mogen Dovid for Israel, the sup- port wing of Israel's Red Cross Service, has been installed through- out Israel, reaching from northern Galilee to south of Beersheba. Details of the nationwide proj- ect were announced by Congress- man Emanuel Celler, national chairman of American Red Mogen Dovid, in a report to the board of the agency at 50 W. 57th, New York. The congressman said that with the installation of a radio-tele- phone transmitter on the roof of a big, modern building in Beersheba, the electronic communication sys- tem covering virtually all of Israel and all of Mogen Dovid Adom's ambulances has been completed. The chain extends from Kiriat Shmona in Upper Galilee, through the coastal plain and the Jerusa- lem corridor, and down to Beer- sheba. 100 Television Stations Carry Film on Jews' Struggle for Freedom NEW YORK (JTA)—A special full-hour, Passover television pro- gram, entitled "Let My People Go," was broadcast' this week on various nights, on 100 TV stations around the country. Created by the Xerox Corp., the program was shown on three stations simultaneously in Los Angeles Wednesday, and on three staticns in New York, Thursday night. Other stations around the country broadcast the programs on various nights. It was shown in Detroit on WWJ-TV (4) Tues- day. Subtitled as a documentary on the struggle of the Jewish people for a homeland, the show con- tained some films, never before seen in public, from captured film archives of Germany and some of the Arab c o u n t r i e s. Among the footage were films taken inside the Warsaw Ghetto and inside some of the Nazi death camps during World War II. The show, a David Wolper pro- duction, was written and produced by Marshall Flaum. Shapiro, a member of the faculty of the Hebrew Univer- sity's Haifa branch sociology de- partment, was born in Cleveland but emigrated with his family to Palestine at age 6. A veteran of the Haganah and later the Israel Army during the War of Independence, Shapiro was named director of Israel's land settlement department in 1962. He has carried out a number of studies dealing primarily with the social aspects of rural development in Israel and has attended a number of international conferences re- lated to this field.
