Death Takes Medic
to Side of Brother
in Auto Accident

A local youth alone in a car
borrowed from his brother was
killed in an accident Sunday after-
noon. A medical student came to
the boy's aid, not knowing it was
his own brother.
Michael D. Blumenstein, 17-year-
old senior at Mtunford High School,
borrowed the auto from his older
brother, Harold. In the car was
Harold's medical kit.
Harold, his mother, Mrs. Sonia
Blumenstein, and a sister were
in a car driving along Wood-
ward Ave. when an auto streaked
past, belonging to Pamela Man-
quen, 1'7. When the Manquen car
and young Blumenstein's car col-
lided, Harold hurried over to
assist.
Even after taking the youth's
pulse, Harold was unaware it was
his brother. Only after seeing his
doctor's kit lying in the street,
did he realize that the accident car
was his own.
A passenger in the Manquen
auto, Jean Thomas, 14, also was
killed. Mrs. Manquen was rushed
in critical condition to Beaumont
Hospital. At last report her con-
dition had slightly improved.
Besides his mother and brother,
Michael Blumenstein leaves two
sisters, Judith and Annette. His
father, Charles Blumenstein, died
Dec. 1 of natural causes. The fam-
ily lives at 20225 Briarcliff.
