Pollack Named to State Civil Service Body _Israeli Women Plan Social Evening David Pollack took his oath as the newest member of the State Civil Service Commission in De- troit Monday. Pollack, a 51-year-old real estate investor, president of the Wash- ington Boulevard Building Co., was sworn into office by Chief Judge T. John Lesinski of the State Court of Appeals. The ceremonies marked the first time one of Michigan's new appellate judges has delivered an oath of office. Pollack Gov. George Romney announced Pollack's appointment to the four- member, bipartisan commission, March 11. Pollack, who in 1962 con- cluded 14 years' service on the De- troit Fire Commission, was chosen as a Democratic appointee to suc- ceed Sarah Robinson, also of Detroit, for an eight-year term. Pollack will commence his of- ficial duties with the commission at its monthly meeting - April 19- 20 in Lansing. Pollack is a native of Detroit and a graduate of the Wayne State University Law School. He is ac- tive in a number of civic and charitable organizations and in many Jewish movements, includ- ing the Allied Jewish Campaign and Israel bonds. Plans for an all-Israeli social, arranged by the program com- mittee of the newly organized Israeli Women's Organization of Detroit, are for 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the Jewish Center.
