The He- brew-language screen comedy re- ceived the distinction of being selected as "Outstanding" foreign film; Mr. Topol was named "Most Promising Newcomer" or star of tomorrow. In his acceptance speech that was carried by the combined NBC net- work throughout the U. S. and Canada. Mr. Kishon stressed the fact that Israel is still an infant in film making and has produced hardly more than a dozen top fea- tures in her 17 years of statehood. The announcement that "Sallah" was to be honored with a Golden Globe received a tremendous round of acclaim from the usually rather blase audience assembled in the Cocoanut Grove of the Hotel Am- bassador.
