BUENOS AIRES (JTA) — The
DATA, the central body of Argen-
tine Jewry, last week called an
extraordinary session to discuss re-
cent anti-Semitic attacks. At the
same time it decided to warn
public opinion that the attacks
could spread out in chaos which
might become uncontrollable.
The organization also decided
to notify the authorities of the
r of ound uneasiness" among
Jews because of the impunity
from arrest and prosecution which
was apparently enjoyed by terror-
ist bands in Argentina.
DAIA leaders indicated that they
were prepared to pose before na-
tional authorities, political parties
and the people of Argentina gen-
erally the issue of how long the
nation was prepared to accept the
presence and activities of Nazi
groups in Argentina as inevitable.

Felix Frankfurter
JERUSALEM ( JTA) —President
Zalman Shazar paid- tribute to Fe-
lix Frankfurter, recalling the late
former Supreme Court justice's
work for the Zionist movement and
his "considerable political aid" to
Israel in "its most difficult hour."
President Shazar made the trib-
ute at a farewell reception for Su-
preme Court Justice Yitzhak 01
shan, who has reached- the compul-
sory court retirement age of 70,
Justice Olshan recalled that in
1948, when the Israel Supreme
Court issued its first ruling, Jus-
tice Frankfurter asked for the com-
plete text of the judgment and
later praised it as an example of
jurisprudence.
President Shazar cited the ex-
change of letters between Mr.
Frankfurter and Emir Feisal in
1919, when Feisal was head of the
Arab delegation at the Versailles
Peace Conference. Feisal wrote
that the Arabs "look with deepest
sympathy on the Zionist move-
ment" and "will wish the Jews a
most hearty welcome home."
(Justice Olshan, the only survi-
vor of the five jurists who consti-
tuted Israel's first Supreme Court,
will be succeeded as president by
Justice Shimon Agranat.)
Abba Eban, deputy foreign
minister of Israel, was present
at the funeral services for Mr.
Frankfurter held in the late jur-
ist's Washington apartment. Pres-
ident Lyndon Johnson attended
the services.
In accordance with a request
made by Justice Frankfurter be-
fore he passed away, his former
law clerk, Prof. Louis Henkin of
Columbia University Law School,
recited the kaddish at the service.
It was pointed out that the
prayer was recited not because of
religious dogma but to symbolize
the traditional kinship Justice
Frankfurter felt for his Jewish
heritage. No rabbi participated be-
cause of Mr. Frankfurter's desire
not to be formally identified with
Judaism as a religious creed. A
eulogy was offered by Prof. Paul
Freund.
The deep sense of mourning of
American Zionists at the passing of
Justice Frankfurter was voiced by
Dr. Max Nussbaum, president of
the Zionist Organization of Ameri-
ca in a statement emphasizing the
deceased's "historic role in the ef-
forts for the establishment of Pal-
estine as a Jewish national home-
land."

Jewish leaders were against the
idea of a Jewish State. Weizmann
replied that those American Jew-
ish leaders who were against the
Jewish State were also against
Roosevelt and Churchill. Churchill
said he, too, thought this was so.
* * *
Churchill once told a friend that
he was reluctant about meeting
with Weizmann, who, he said, had
so much charm, that he was afraid
of coming too much under his in-
fluence. When this conversation
was reported to Dr. Weizmann, the
Zionist leader said that what
Churchill was really afraid of was
encountering his own conscience.
Deep down, Churchill knew that
what Weizmann was saying was
true.
Churchill once wrote a too little
known essay on Moses. He de-
scribed the scene of Moses at the
burning bush. Moses is a fugitive
from Egypt. In the desert, he sits
down to meditate. The Israelites
are in slavery — slavery so deep
that one of the Israelites has re-
ported Moses to the government as
a trouble maker and forced him
to flee. What should he do? In the
burning bush, the voice of God
comes to him and Churchill rep-
resents God as saying to Moses:
"I will endow you with super-
human power. There is nothing
that man cannot do, if he will it
with enough resolution. Man is the
epitome of the universe. All of
man's existence is a result of his
invincible will, which is of God."
In those words, Churchill was
expressing the philosophy which
transformed the boy with the bad
report card to the man who led
the great battle against Nazi
tyranny.
