"W.1-1-Y," ww .-asked the hand- sketchy facts we opened an inves-
_ -solicie barmaid, "do they call this tigation of one of suburbia's more
d Lofy's Arbor Lill?'' . . . Because, d e li g h t f u.1 restaurant - cocktail
sir. "she answered•" the restau- lounge type places . . . The Arbor
rant is owned by Norbert Lofy Lill is a converted apple fac-
and it is located at the corner of tory . . . Some 14 years ago it was
Lilly Road and Ann Arbor Trail taken over by Norbert Lofy and his
in Plymouth, Mich. . . Armed wife Margaret . . Through clever
with nothing-- more- than these management a n d exceptionally
fine service and food. they have
built what is today one of the Ann

GOLDBERG
most flourishing businesses.

YES, THERE IS a drink called
Double Trouble .- . 23 brandy,
';Es Dry Vermouth, 4 Dashes
Grenadine and 1 Dash Angos-
tura Bitters .. . Shake well with
ice and strain into glass.
IT'S CALLED Key Lime Pie and

the only place in town we know
of where you can get it is at the
Golden Griddle Pancake House out
Woodward way near 13 Mile Rd.
. . Bossman Dave Berg insisted
we have a piece. and to tell the
truth. it was a real experience
. . . There's a restaurant in Key
West. Florida that serves nothing
but Key Lime Pie. and folks flock
there in droves from all over . . .
Now Detroit has a spot for the
rare delicacy baked right on the
premises . . . It was the first time
we had ever eaten Key Lime Pie,
and certainly not the last . . . It
has. as do all the mouth-watering
pies at the Golden Griddle. a deli-
cious frozen filling that instantly
brings to life any t a s t e buds
caught napping . . . Dave and cou-
sin Milt Berg will soon celebrate
a third anniversary, in March or
April . . . with a gala three-day
fantasia including everything at
one-half price . . . They do things
in a big way, even now, at their
eatery emporium!

CHUCK FORMOSA IS the gent
behind that real good food being
served at the Park Colony on W.
McNichols . . . Takes deep pride
in his culinary ability and exhibits
it heartily . . . Prices are reason'
able and service also good. which
are reasons enough to go along
with the fine food in bringing the

people back again.
ALTHOUGH LAWMAKERS the
country over have come out with

some pretty odd-ball laws regard-
ing preparation, serving and con-
sumption of food. there are. oddly
enough, sandwiched in among
those that fail to make sense a few
laws which would undoubtedly
bring loud cheers from disgrunted
citizens if they were adopted on
a national basis . . . For instance,
in Colorado Springs, a waiter is
subject to a fine if he makes an
insulting remark to a customer ...
In Florida, there is a law forbid-
ding your neighbor to hire away
your cook . .. In Gary, Indiana, it
is against the law to ride any
strut car or attend theater within
four hours after eating garlic . . .
There is a law in Michigan which
says that no peddler may coat his
fruit with varnish to bring out its
beauty . . . and in Waterloo, Ne-
braska, bless them, barbers are
forbidden to eat onions between
even a.m. and seven p.m.

"Mankind are always happier for
having been happy . . . a man is
the happier from once having an
agreeable tour."—Sydney Smith in
"Sketches of Moral Philosophy."
